Um Genomics Core Laboratory Logo

The Genomics Core Facility at the University of Montana (UMGC) is a multi-user and service core laboratory providing genetic and genomic resources and solutions to researchers at universities, institutions, and government laboratories on the state, national and interantional levels.

The newly expanded core is fully equipped for 1st-generation sequencing (Sanger Sequencing), 2nd-generation sequencing (Illumina Sequencing) and 3rd-generation sequencing (Nanopore Sequencing) services. UMGC is also staffed with expertise for consultation, support for grant application, srandard and customized sequencing library preparation, and collaboration for research projects in genomics and transcriptomics.

The lab, located in the Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB) room 007 and 323, is equipped with an Illumina MiSeq™ and an ABI 3130, 16 capillary Genetic Analyzer, Nanopore MinION, Chromium, and CytAssist. Shared equipment includes Covaris E220 (96 well Focused-ultrasonicator), epMotion 5075TMX liquid handler, Agilent TapeStation, and BioteK Synergy HT multi-mode plate reader.
