University of Montana Herbarium (MONTU)

The Herbarium at the University of Montana is an irreplaceable resource for the study of the botany and plant ecology of Montana. It contains over 129,000 plant specimens and has the largest and best representation of the flora of the Northern Rocky Mountains in the world. The Herbarium is particularly well-known for its outstanding collections from the alpine and montane regions of Montana.

The Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum

With >24,000 vertebrate specimens, The Wright Zoological Museum is the largest collection of mammal, bird and fish specimens in Montana. The museum has been instrumental in documenting past and present distribution patterns of mammals and birds in the Northern Rockies, and is the major repository for specimens that constitute important Montana records. The museum provides important resources for research, teaching, and educational outreach programs.
