Mark Sundeen Joins Environmental Writing Program
Mark Sundeen joined the Environmental Studies Program this semester to lead our Environmental Writing Program. Sundeen was born in Harbor City, California, in 1970 and grew up in the Los Angeles suburbs of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. He graduated from Stanford University in 1992 with a degree in English and later moved to Moab, Utah. He has a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Southern California.
His published books include: “The Unsettlers,” “The Man Who Quit Money,” “The Making of Toro” and “Car Camping: The Book of Desert Adventures.” He has won fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Montana Arts Council and the Utah Arts Council. A contributing editor for “Outside" magazine, his work has appeared in “The New York Times,” “The Believer,” “National Geographic Adventure,” and “McSweeneys.” Welcome, Mark, to the Environmental Studies Family.
