Here is the MCAT schedule for A Springtime of Irish Music and Song:
Eoin O Riabhaigh
April 24 @ 10pm
April 27 @ 6pm
The third performer in the series ‘A Springtime of Irish Music and Song’ will be Eoin Ó Riabhaigh, son of the great piper and teacher, Micheál Ó Riabhaigh. Eoin has been playing the uilleann pipes for over thirty years and has enjoyed considerable demand throughout Europe and the United States as both performer and teacher. He has won ‘All-Ireland’ performing titles at each age category and has numerous television and radio performances to his credit. He was also one of the founders of the unique online teaching school Scoiltrad. In addition to extensive travelling, Eoin has played and recorded with many of the great names in music, including Dolores Keane (Ireland), Mary Black (Ireland), Tom Russell (United States) and the great Iris Demente (United States). A great believer in live music and the live performance, he acceded to requests to record an album of his piping some years ago. Entitled Tiomnacht (handed on) and dedicated to his father, the album received widespread critical acclaim, with Irish Music Magazine asserting that ‘his technique and flexibility are almost incredible...if the sound of the pipes is your thing, then this is a five star must for you."
Handing on the rich piping tradition of Munster is the main focus of Eoin’s musical life today. A trained Mechanical Fitter, with a master’s degree in Multimedia Development for Education, Eoin devotes his time to making pipes and to teaching upcoming young pipers the tradition techniques of Irish piping. He continues to share his music with the community, playing a regular gig at Cork’s premier traditional music bar, The Corner House. This will be Eoin’s first performance in Montana since 2011.
