Irish Studies Program starts Community and High School Outreach
Clair Leonard, a linguist by training, [Russian & German] born in the U.S.A. and raised in Ireland [also fluent in the Irish language] joined the Hamilton Rotary Club Meeting to discuss the Irish Studies program at the University of Montana. Claire talked about the concerted effort to preserve Irish Culture and Irish language [Irish Gaelic] in Ireland.
Claire discussed the population of Ireland is at about 4 million with 1 million in Northern Ireland. She mentioned that Irish Studies at the Universities find strong support in Montana as well as the Northwest Region.
Clair Leonard is continuing outreach regarding the UM Irish Studies program to High Schools all over the state of Montana.
