In my work as a PhD candidate, I study what kind of possibilities people have an effect to land use planning, and how does public participatory geographic information systems –method (PPGIS) promote interactivity in sparsely populated Northern areas. I study the issue through the cases in Finnish Lapland. The research focus is on Northern environment and on the people living or visiting in the area or practicing their livelihoods there.
