UM Classics Program to host 71st Annual Institute of the American Classical League (ACL)
The UM Classics Program, housed in the Department of MCLL, will host the 71st Annual Institute of the American Classical League (ACL), June 28 - 30, 2018. The conference will be held in the University Center. It brings together teachers of Classical subjects from all levels as well as undergraduate and graduate students, scholars, instructors and enthusiasts.
Program highlights of the three-day event include "The pillars of the Aapsalooke," a presentation by member of the Crow and anthropologist Aaron Brien, which aims at situating storytelling in Greek and Roman cultures in a wider world context; a guided tour through downtown Missoula in Latin; and presentations on a variety of 'modern' topics such as "Classical Ethnography," "Adapting Antiquity to the Classroom," "Teaching with Hybrid Latin," and "Romans and Foreigners."
