Write Your Stories: A Workshop for Health Practitioners

just begin

"Write Your Stories: A Workshop for Health Practitioners" is a seven-week writing class for people working in any of the diverse fields that require them to provide care for others on a daily basis. (Nurses, midwives, social workers, therapists, physical therapists, doctors – and more.)

Taught by acclaimed author David Allan Cates, the main goal of these workshops is to get you writing! You will be asked to read a few short scenes and stories which the instructor will then analyze for structure, content, and effectiveness, examining how and why they work. You will then write a few original pieces--fiction or non-fiction--that the class will read and discuss.

The workshop is open to a maximum of 12 people, so please register ASAP! We hope that you can attend all seven sessions, but understand that life might get in the way every now and then.

The cost of this workshop is subsidized by the Institute of Health and Humanities. A $50 ticket would help us recover costs, but please note that there is a free ticket option as well. Any money you pay will cover all sessions and is considered a donation to the IHH.

The group will meet on Wednesdays from 6-8 on April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and June 5 in the Liberal Arts Building on UM’s campus.
