Visit the Garden

Our Living Laboratory

The Native Plant Gardens at the Payne Family Native American Center contain native grasses and bushes connecting eight "Circles of Life." Each Circle represents an ecoregion of Montana and the tribe or tribes that live within that area. Within each Circle are plants, shrubs, or bushes native to that ecoregion and important to Montana's Native peoples.

Each circle contains signage identifying its native plants and ecoregion. Using the map below, please enjoy a self-guided tour of the natural landscape.
