Richard Drake Writing Award
The Richard Drake Writing Award honors excellence in writing in the humanities in the College of Humanities and Sciences, and is awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate student per year. Papers focusing on history, literature, philosophy, religion, politics and the classics are considered. Papers are judged on the basis of excellence in writing, imagination in research, and force of argument.
Please complete the online application form below and attach your paper when prompted.
The application should include a letter of recommendation from the UM faculty member in whose class you wrote the paper. The letter of recommendation should include an overview of the assignment and a sense of what stood out in regards to the paper. Please have the faculty email the letter of recommendation to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 1.
