Teaching the Leaders of Tomorrow

Welcome to the University of Montana Army ROTC Program. We are a program with strong traditions and pride with over 100 years of commissioning leaders for United States Army. The Grizzly Battalion strives to develop leaders of character capable of adaptive thinking and decision-making. The opportunity to lead and serve as a commissioned officer in the Army is a distinguished path in life. Join us in our quest to serve a greater cause and become a member of a unified team.
What is ROTC?
Army ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your degree required college classes. Army ROTC will give you the knowledge and experiences you will need to succeed in any competitive environment. Aside from great leadership training, Army ROTC can help pay for your college tuition!  Being that Army ROTC is a elective, you can participate during your freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. Not only will you be getting the normal college student experience, but through Army ROTC you will be experiencing things like, Helicopter rides, Field Training Exercises, and seeing, up close, the beautiful scenery that Montana has to offer, while skiing and snowboarding, being on rafts in the breathtaking rivers , and much more!  Once you narrowed down your wide range of interests in Army ROTC, you can go on to specialize in Branches.
