The UMPC is located in the Charles H. Clapp building (CHCB) at the University of Montana's main campus in Missoula. The Clapp building is located on the south edge of campus near the U.S. Forest Service facility on Beckwith Avenue.

Parking permits are required and are available from the University Police, University Center Bookstore, and the Treasury Office in the Lommasson Center to park in Lot B (to the east of CHCB) or Lot G (to the south-west of CHCB). Metered parking is also available off East Beckwith Avenue and Madeline Avenue (Lot E).

The facilities of the UMPC consist of 1,500 sq. feet of collection space in the basement (CHCB 006), a 800 sq. feet preparation lab on the third floor (CHCB 323), an adjacent acid lab, a computer room for utilizing the 3D modeling scanner, and public exhibit areas – 1st and 3rd floor of CHCB and 5th floor of Mansfield Library.


Guided tours of UMPC facilities including the exhibits, fossil collection and fossil preparation lab are available to school groups and interested public alike.  The exhibits (1st & 3rd Floor, CHCB) are open to the public for self-guided tours during normal University business hours, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.  Tours and admittance is free, donations to the Friends of the UMPC are appreciated.
