Erika Byrne is the 2021 Outstanding Senior in International Relations and Comparative Politics
Erika Byrne is an outstanding student and a creative leader. In Spring 2021, she is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a political science major, a business administration minor, and a certificate in global leadership. Within political science, Erika has concentrated on international relations and comparative politics. She has taken and excelled in courses on international security, the politics of China, and the politics of global health, environment, and migration. Erika has also studied a range of other topics, including modern political theory, the American presidency, media and public opinion.
In summer 2019, Erika was named a Baucus Leader and served as a Congressional intern in Washington, D.C. Erika has also worked as an ASUM Neighborhood Ambassador, as a student assistant for Mansfield Library Archives & Special Collections, and at UM’s Food Pantry.
Erika plans a career in public relations and marketing. While at UM she has developed knowledge and skills in those areas in her business administration minor and in two internships, one in marketing and communications for UM’s Global Engagement Office and the other in public relations for a political consulting firm.
