2018
December
McKenna Wendt (undergrad) joins the Berryman research group.
November
Congrats to Casey Massena on a successful
October
The first kinetic studies of an anion helicate conducted by Casey Massena et al. is published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
September
Undergraduate James May leaves us to begin a Ph.D. at the University of Oregon. Before he left, he was included in a UM promotional video.
August
Nick's work with (2-pyridyl)urea organocatalysts is accepted by Supramolecular Chemistry.
The relationship between peripheral steric groups and the active site of (2-pyridyl)urea organocatalysts was explored in the solid state and in solution. The findings show that guest binding conformation in the solid state can be controlled, and small increases in the size of steric groups will severely attenuate catalyst activity in regards to nitro group binding. This research may be applied to the design of future organocatalysts with higher functional group selectivity.
July
Professor Berryman attends and presents work at ISMSC held in Quebec City, Canada
Congrats to Nick Wageling on a successful
June
Asia and Dan introduce a powerful new strategy to preorganize and enhance the binding strength of a molecular receptor through intramolecular hydrogen-bond-enhanced halogen bonding. Their paper is published in Chemical Science.
Asia Riel and Professor Berryman attend and present at ISXB3 held at Clemson University in South Carolina
May
Jiyu's exploration of the solvatochromic and fluorescent properties of a bis(ethynyl) halogen bonding receptor is published in the New Journal of Chemistry.
Dylan Budke joins the Berryman Research Group.
Congrats to Dan Decato on winning the Besancon scholarship.
April
Nick Wageling wins award for giving the best graduate research presentation in his category at Grad Con, a UM GPSA-sponsored event.
Congrats to Dan Decato on winning the Bertha Morton fellowship.
March
The Berryman Research Group purchases a new 3D printer through an NSF grant. This printer will help graduates and undergraduates analyze their molecular structures, as well as provide tactile learning tools to help children learn about the molecular world.
January
Prof. Orion Berryman and Hank Green talk about supramolecular chemistry on the SciShow!
